From On the River

Viewing this image deceives the eye because of the shift in scale and point of view. The shift in scale represents the feet in such a way that they remind me of the high-rise buildings along the river’s edge. I’m reminded of the power people have over the well being of the river. Humankind looms over the river with great potential for both good and bad. The Grand River today is a direct result of the way city planners reclaimed the wetlands and marsh to tame them for their own agendas. Their ‘footprint’ looms large over the city.
The image was taken on the west bank of the river, just north of the Interurban (Gillette) Bridge.
