Paint Chips
I collected some paint chips I found in the small tunnel I sing in. I "dissected" them a little:
They have five layers that I count: -one outer layer of gray that chips off really easily -pastel pink and blue on white background -black and white shiny layer -bright yellow and black (very thin and won't separate at all) -back black layer mixed with something that looks like concrete
It makes sense to relatively systematically pry things apart to see what is in them. I put them in small bags, and pinned them down. The images of the paint chips look like land/continents. Pulling them apart seems similar to the derive assignment- meditative.
