From On the River

These two drawings were not done with the intent of looking like something, or even being recognizable. Rather they were done as a way to relate to what was around me where I sat.
The pen drawing is a blind-contour drawing of a rock and grass in front of me. I enjoy these types of drawings- find them to be calming and help me to think/ meditative. It was a short 10 minute drawing.
Second drawing evolved as I went ( and off of the first line drawing). It is lines made on a piece of paper from different rocks that were around where I was sitting. I pushed the rocks onto the paper and drug them across it, and then threw them into the water nearby. Each one made different marks and I found that the ones that made the least mark on paper, made the best sound hitting the water.
Findings:
Rocks that are round and smooth sound good Crumbly rocks leave good color usually and grooves in paper Go slowly to make sure the rocks don't slip Red/orange rocks are good for mark making Some rocks are hard to hold and can't go in a straight line at all
